Royal Arch

Klippet fra ProTrails: Colorado hikers need not go to Utah to see arches. Hidden in Boulder’s Flatirons area lies Royal Arch – A 20 ft sandstone arch that beautifully frames the Boulder valley to the southeast and massive Flatirons to the north. ... Continue past the shelter and follow signs to Royal Arch. The trail evens out for a brief spell, then heads south through a ponderosa pine forest. The trail soon begins an aggressive climb toward Royal Arch. Multiple steep switchbacks eventually lead to a false summit named Sentinel Pass. This is not the end of the trail. At Sentinel Pass, the trail turns left and actually descends about 100’ before rising sharply again for the final approach to Royal Arch. Royal Arch is quite impressive, and the sweeping views of Boulder are spectacular. The Royal Arch Trail provides a great workout, excellent scenery and a good chance to enjoy the local wildlife.
