Bear Peak

Klip fra ProTrails: At 8,461', the challenging hike to Bear Peak rewards visitors with exceptional 360-degree views of the eastern plains, Boulder’s front and back ranges, the Indian Peaks and Continental Divide.

There are several trail routes that lead to Bear Peak: The following describes the Towhee-Shadow Canyon-Bear Peak route, and is highly recommended for its compelling scenery and lighter traffic.

At the last connection point to the Mesa Trail, the Shadow Canyon Trail begins a very strenuous 1.1 mile ascent up Shadow Canyon to the saddle between South Boulder Peak and Bear Peak. This trail segment runs through a boulder-laden dense pine forest. It’s worth noting that the trail can be difficult to follow here, especially if there’s snow on the ground. Occasional trail signs and boundary notifications posted on trees will help guide you.
